Getting to Whistler

There are many non-stop direct flights to the Vancouver International Airport from a variety of major U.S. and international cities; the prices and availability of seats vary.

From Vancouver, access to Whistler, which lies 120 km (75 miles) north on Highway 99, is available by car, bus, ground transfers, train and air. If you are travelling by car, road maps of the Sea to Sky region are available at the airport and at the majority of convenience stores and supermarkets. The Highway 99 is the only direct route to Whistler that can get busy on the weekends, so pack some patience with you and enjoy the mountain view if you are stuck in traffic.

Taking the bus is probably the easiest way to get to Whistler. Ticket prices vary from 30 to 70 CAD, and the rate depends on your departure point, whether it is the Vancouver International Airport or the Vancouver Bus Terminal. Some stops are also available in downtown Vancouver. The buses take Highway 99 as well, so road and weather conditions also apply; it generally takes around 2 hours to get to Whistler.

Trains to Whistler part from Vancouver several times a day, and although this kind of trip can be pricey (around 200 CAD round trip), it is worth the enjoyment of the view and comfort of travel with no traffic. The railroad to Whistler is also the only one in the Sea to Sky, so check the travel conditions in advance.
